Evanescence has brought out a 2006 album titled The Open Door.
There are wonderful songs on this album, filled with wonderful lyrics.
While the Evanescence lyrics are fairly clear-cut
and easy to understand, the band has left room for interpretation,

to however they are feeling in their own life.
"Call Me When You're Sober" is a song that many people
will be able to relate to. Many people have experienced having a
loved one that has had problems with drugs or alcohol and that's
exactly what this song is about. The Evanescence lyrics first talks
about how the addict is not there to spend time with the singer.
In six short lines, it covers the feelings from being lonely for
the person to being angry and giving up on waiting for them. The
last lines of the first verse say, "You want me, Come find
me. Make up your mind."
The second verse of the Evanescence lyrics delves further into
the problem by bringing up another dilemma that the person dealing
with the addict will always face. It's that moment in time when
one realizes that the addict may have to hit rock bottom before
they can receive any kind of help.
This is often one of the hardest things to do and this comes across
when the singer says, "Should I let you fall? Lose it all?"
A person never wants to see someone they love lose it all but the
necessity for it is brought to light again at the end of the verse
when the feelings of guilt turn back to feelings of anger. This
is clear in the Evanescence lyrics when the singer sings about,
"And I'm sick of the lie, And you're too late."
After that, the singer delves into how they are feeling and not
focusing so much on the addict's problem. The singer talks about
how they are sick of feeling like they are to blame and they are
sick of being ashamed. They place the blame back onto the addict.
This is evident in the Evanescence lyrics, "Must be exhausting
to lose your own game. Selfishly hated, no wonder you're jaded.
You can't play the victim this time, and you're too late."
This is such a popular among fans because everyone can relate to
these emotions. Even if someone has never experienced living with
an addict or trying to keep a relationship with an addict, the feelings
are the same for many situations.
These feelings can be the same for any situation in which one partner
in the relationship feels like they have been wronged. They will
often first ask themselves what they have done to deserve feeling
that way, and those emotions will often turn back to anger once
they realize that they have been wronged, and that they actually
haven't done anything wrong.
These Evanescence lyrics can definitely trigger some heavy emotions
among listeners. Evanescence has a way of bringing out major issues
and bringing them to the forefront in a way that allows everyone
to identify with the lyrics and make it their own.
